The story behind the foundation of Wood Urban Design
We founded Wood Urban Design with a simple vision—giving new life to trees that would otherwise go to waste. Adrian and Jakub partnered with a local tree service to reclaim high-quality logs from residential properties, transforming them into something lasting. With a deep-rooted passion for woodworking, Adrian—raised in a family of carpenters—saw an opportunity to refine his craft and build something meaningful.
In 2017, a collaboration with a local interior design studio led to a series of custom projects across Chicago, shaping the foundation of WUD’s expertise. Today, we operate with four portable and stationary sawmills, a full woodworking studio, carpentry services, and a showroom, continuing our commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and innovation.
